MAY DAY: Prof Akpodiete Commends Delta Central Resilience And Dedication

Delta Central senatorial aspirant for 2027, Prof. Alex Akpodiete, has lauded the resilience and dedication of workers in Delta Central and across Nigeria.

Akpodiete, in a statement o to mark Workers’ Day, said “Nigerian workers remained the backbone of society as their contributions have continued to drive economic and social development.

He commended workers across various sectors,, civil servants, artisans, traders, farmers, engineers and healthcare professionals, for their commitment despite economic challenges.

According to him, “The Nigerian worker continues to show remarkable strength in the face of hardship, rising cost of living and limited opportunities and this resilience must not be taken for granted.

“Workers’ Day should not only be a time for celebration but also for reflection and decisive action by leaders as critical issues such as job creation, youth empowerment and support for small businesses must be prioritised.

“We must ask ourselves whether we are creating enough jobs for our youth, supporting entrepreneurs and investing in the future of work through technology and education.”

On Delta Central, Akpodiete held that the region must focus on creating employment opportunities, promoting skills development and supporting local industries.

He identified key sectors for growth to include security, technology, healthcare, education, agriculture and manufacturing.

Akpodiete further stressed the need for responsive leadership, insisting that workers required practical solutions rather than promises. Workers do not need promises, they need results, they need leadership that is accessible, accountable and action driven.”

He, however, commended Nigerian workers for their sacrifice and perseverance, urging continued commitment to national development.
